Colorful Korea

Behind the vivid hues of 오색찬란코리아 (Colorful Korea) is artist Jieun Kom (김지은) — a designer turned traditional painter who has dedicated over a decade to bringing Korean folk art back into daily life.

What began as admiration for the beauty of old paintings has grown into a studio where 민화 (Korean folk painting) is lovingly reinterpreted for the modern world.

오색찬란코리아 doesn’t just create art to hang on walls — it proposes a lifestyle.

One where beauty is not reserved for galleries, but woven into our homes and routines.

Each design is imbued with a wish for happiness, and a touch of old-world charm made hip and heartfelt.

Using time-honored techniques and materials such as silk, hanji, 석채 (stone pigments), and 분채 (mineral powders).

These traditional methods bring out deep, vibrant colors that resonate beyond the surface.

The motifs often draw from Joseon-era folk art — filled with wishes for happiness, protection, and beauty — and are reimagined into modern, approachable forms like pouches, fans, and home décor.
