A rim that reaches outward — the way a hand cups around something it wants to hold gently.
The Nalgae (날개) flanged bowl is the most sculptural form in Tovy's Namu-gyeol collection. At 14 cm with a graceful flared rim, the bowl introduces gentle movement to a table otherwise composed in straight lines and quiet plates. The signature wood grain ceramic texture travels the full length of the flange, tracing the organic rhythm of timber across the fired surface. High-fired Korean stoneware gives the piece its weight and permanence, while the wing-like silhouette gives it lift. The result is a form that Korean craft tradition would recognise — practical, honest, quietly beautiful.
Hold braised tofu in a light soy broth, the flanged rim making it easy to pass across a shared table without ceremony. Use it for a small dessert — a scoop of red bean ice cream or seasonal sorbet — where the sculptural form becomes part of the presentation and earns its place at the table. Placed as an individual condiment vessel at a dinner party, each guest's bowl becomes a small object worth pausing over, a conversation that begins before the meal does.
For those who set a table the way they curate a room — with intention and a quiet love of form. Handcrafted in Korean kilns. No two flanges carry the same grain.
