The right bowl changes the quality of what's placed inside it. This is not ceremony — it is consideration.
Tovy's Jade Sky collection draws from the Cheongja (청자, Celadon) tradition that defined Goryeo-era Korea — a glaze so prized it was described as the colour of jade after rain. The Small Bowl is finished in a translucent celadon that pools at the base and thins toward the rim, creating a depth that shifts with the light and with what sits inside. Made from premium Korean clay and kiln-fired at high temperature, it sits lightly in the hand but holds its form with quiet authority. The 11.5cm diameter is the considered size: present without dominating, generous without excess.
It belongs on a weeknight table as a rice bowl — the one piece that makes the ordinary feel deliberate. Filled with seasonal side dishes on a long Sunday, it holds equally well beside the larger pieces in the Jade Sky series. At a breakfast table as a yogurt or fruit bowl, the celadon glaze holds equally well against citrus or grain. The kind of piece that earns a permanent place on the shelf without demanding it.
Handcrafted in South Korea by Tovy, in the celadon tradition.
