Still water moves from the centre outward. This plate remembers that.
The Ripple Medium Plate carries its texture in the surface — a radiating spiral drawn from the centre, hand-finished so the grooves vary slightly between pieces. The Cheongja (청자) celadon glaze gathers in the depths of each groove, darkening to jade where it pools and thinning to pale sky across the ridges. The result is a plate that holds light differently at every angle — a quality that centuries of Korean ceramic tradition considered essential rather than merely decorative. At 24.8cm, this is the anchor plate of the Jade Sky collection: generous enough for a main course, refined enough to be the piece the table is composed around.
On a dinner table, the spiral guides the eye before the food is arranged. As an appetiser platter for a dinner party, the textured surface gives even simple preparations a sense of occasion. Set alongside the Ripple Large Plate and the Jade Sky bowls, the collection earns its coherence — a table assembled piece by piece, each one worth the space it takes.
Handcrafted in South Korea by Tovy, in the celadon tradition.
