Some plates are for serving. This one is for presiding.
At 28cm, the Jade Sky Ripple Large Plate is the statement piece of the collection — a plate whose hand-finished spiral draws the eye inward, whose depth catches and holds the Cheongja (청자) celadon glaze in a dark jade pool at the centre, fading outward to the palest translucence at the rim. The texture is not decorative: the radiating grooves are cut by hand, which means no two plates spiral in exactly the same rhythm. This is the Bihyeong-ui Mi (비형의 미) that Korean craft has always understood — the beauty of imperfection as evidence of human presence. Premium Korean clay, high-temperature kiln. A plate that holds its form and earns its place on the table.
Beneath the bowls as a charger plate, the celadon spiral is visible at the edges, completing the full Jade Sky setting. As a large serving platter for a weekend spread, the textured surface gives even simple foods a composed presentation. Standing on an open shelf when not in use, the spiral reads as sculpture — the piece guests pick up to look at more closely before they sit down.
Handcrafted in South Korea by Tovy, in the celadon tradition.
