Dark ground, pale bloom: the oldest contrast in Korean craft, still the best.

Ivory mother-of-pearl peonies open across a near-black abalone ground that flickers green and violet in movement, framed in key-fret borders and closed by an ornate clasp with twin tassels.

The peony carries wealth and honour in Korean symbolism. On black lacquer the message turns quietly formal: abundance stated in a low voice rather than announced.

Inside the domed lid: a mirror, velvet compartments and a removable tray. Korean najeon lacquerware in its most painterly mood, in three sizes.

For rooms that run moody and interiors that treat objects as art.

Handcrafted in South Korea. Each box varies subtly in shell iridescence and lacquer depth — this is the character of najeon.
