The twin-cube form opens on a butterfly clasp to reveal four velvet drawers, beneath a surface alive with mother-of-pearl butterflies over a midnight abalone ground that flashes violet, teal and rose as the light moves.

In Korean craft the butterfly stands for joy and transformation, happiness that arrives through change. A box covered in butterflies is, quite literally, covered in good wishes.

Hand-inlaid in the Korean najeon tradition. 17cm wide, made to sit out rather than be put away.
