Here the twin-cube Korean jewellery box wears its lightest coat: a white mother-of-pearl ground scattered with butterflies in violet and green, edged with a fine key-fret border. The butterfly clasp opens to four velvet drawers.

Butterflies carry joy and transformation in Korean symbolism, and on a white ground they read like blessings written in light. The unbroken key-fret border adds a meaning of its own: continuity without end.

The najeon surface reads almost silver in daylight. 17cm wide, quietly luminous on a pale dresser or shelf.
