A cup for two already contains a relationship. The question is only what the cups themselves bring to the table.
Sorosi's Hangeul Teacup Set is formed from Baekja white porcelain, kiln-fired at 1250°C to a strength and translucency that Joseon (조선) potters spent generations refining. The hand-applied Hangeul (한글) consonant patterns vary slightly from piece to piece — the natural consequence of patterns drawn by hand rather than stamped by machine. Each cup carries a fragment of the Korean alphabet as a visual system: minimal, precise, structurally inevitable. Sorosi built this series from the conviction that Hangeul itself is one of Korea's great design achievements — an alphabet created with intention, shaped to fit the sounds it carries, beautiful in the same way a well-reasoned argument is beautiful.
On a table set for weekend tea, the matched pair creates a moment without requiring occasion — two cups enough reason for the kettle. Paired with a PEUM teapot, the set becomes a layered gift for someone who takes their rituals seriously, the kind of person who notices when an object has been thought through. On a display shelf between uses, the porcelain reads as sculptural, the consonant patterns subtle enough to live quietly in a considered interior. Microwave and dishwasher safe, with hand washing recommended to preserve the patterns over time — an object worth treating well.
